THE HERVEY Bay Arts Society is proud to present Walking Side by Side, an exhibition dedicated to promoting reconciliation and unity between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.
This special event will offer artists a space to share their work in an environment of mutual respect, cultural exchange, and deeper understanding.
Walking Side by Side welcomes artists from all backgrounds to submit artworks that explore themes of reconciliation, community, and collaboration.
Each piece will contribute to fostering meaningful connections between cultures, encouraging dialogue, and amplifying diverse voices through creative expression.
“This exhibition is a powerful opportunity for Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists to come together, share their stories, and express their perspectives through art," says Donna Stackman, President of the Hervey Bay Arts Society - Gallery 5.
"We hope this event will inspire conversations, create new connections, and deepen the community's understanding of reconciliation."
Artists interested in participating are encouraged to submit their works, with the option to make them available for sale or simply for display.
This inclusive approach allows artists to showcase their creations in a way that aligns with their personal or cultural intentions.
The Walking Side by Side exhibition will officially open on Saturday, 3rd May 2025, and will remain on display until 29th May 2025 at Hervey Bay Gallery, located at 5 Sandy St, Urangan.
The exhibition is open to the public, and all community members are warmly invited to attend, engage with the artwork, and support this significant initiative.
In addition to the exhibition, the Hervey Bay Arts Society will be hosting a special opening event, featuring guest speakers, live performances, and opportunities to connect with the artists.
Attendees can gain insight into the inspiration behind the artworks and join in conversations about reconciliation and cultural unity.
By walking side by side through art, we can take meaningful steps towards a more inclusive and connected community.
