St James Lutheran College welcomes new principal

ST JAMES Lutheran College is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Michael Stock as the new Principal, succeeding Mr Luke Schoff, who has moved to the Gold Coast to lead St Andrew’s Lutheran College in Tallebudgera.

Reflecting on his departure, Mr Schoff expressed confidence in the appointment, stating, “I know that the College is in excellent hands with Michael as its new Principal. With strategic governance from the College Council and expert leadership from the Executive Team, St James will continue to flourish.”

Mr Lloyd Maddern, Chairperson of the College Council, said the college was thrilled with the new appointment, “Mr Stock brings a strong commitment to Christ-centred education and a vision that aligns with our mission of nurturing high-quality education in a Christian environment. We are confident he will guide St James in its bright and exciting future.”

Michael Stock, who served as Acting Principal in Term 4, 2023, has now returned to Hervey Bay with his wife, Jacki.

They are eager to make the Bay long-term.

With over 25 years of experience in school leadership across three states, Michael is enthusiastic about the future at St James.

“I believe our young people need to be equipped to serve their communities at a pivotal time. The challenges ahead require confident, compassionate problem-solvers with a heart to serve. They need a diverse skill set and a passion for learning.

I firmly believe that with the staff and environment we foster at St James, we are well positioned to achieve this.”

In a letter to the school community, Mr Maddern highlighted Michael’s dedication to fostering resilient young people, improving school systems, and ensuring accessible education. He added that Michael’s return to St James and the Hervey Bay community has been warmly welcomed by staff, students, and parents alike.

Under Mr Schoff’s leadership, the college recently completed the new St James Centre performance hall.

Michael commented, “The scope and opportunities this will provide for students and the community are exciting. We look forward to sharing this with the community at future college events, including its official opening on 27 August.”
