“Hoist Ya Boss;” another successful fundraiser

THE FRASER Coast community turned out in force for the annual "Hoist Ya Boss" fundraiser, an event that brought business leaders, residents, and supporters together for a great cause.

Organised by the Fraser Coast Hospice Association Inc., the morning event at Scarness Park aimed to raise $60,000 to support the hospice’s vital, fee-free palliative care services.

The event’s unique concept saw local business leaders “hoisted” into the air using cherry pickers and scissor lifts, where they remained suspended until they each raised at least $3,000 in donations.

The lively and engaging initiative drew plenty of attention and support from the local community, making for a morning filled with excitement and generosity.

Among those who took to the skies were Michael Beck from The Beach House Hotel, Jasine Leslie representing Fraser Coast Hospice, and Jayden Christie from Aquavue Beachfront Café.

Their willingness to be lifted high above the park highlighted their commitment to the cause and set the stage for a fun and successful event.

Local businesses and organisations played a crucial role in making the fundraiser possible.

Handy Hire Beach provided the necessary equipment, while The Beach House Hotel supported event logistics.

Media partner 103.5 Triple M Fraser Coast helped spread the word, ensuring strong community participation.

Attendees enjoyed breakfast and refreshments while cheering on the suspended bosses.

The sight of well-known local figures dangling above the park created a vibrant atmosphere, reinforcing the strong sense of unity within the Fraser Coast community.

Families, friends, and even passing visitors stopped by to witness the spectacle, many of whom were inspired to contribute on the spot.

By the end of the event, a remarkable $28,541 had been raised, with donations still coming in.

As contributions continued to flow in afterward, the final total reached an impressive $45,167.

These funds are vital for Fraser Coast Hospice, which depends on community-driven initiatives like "Hoist Ya Boss" to generate one-third of its $2.17 million annual operating budget.

Adding to the excitement was the competitive aspect of the event.

The highest fundraiser was awarded the honour of hosting "Hoist Ya Boss 2026" at their business.

This year’s top fundraiser was Mark D’Emilio from Hervey Bay Hotel, who raised an incredible $25,552 for Fraser Coast Hospice Association Inc.

The trophy was officially handed over by the 2024 winners, Beach House Hotel Hervey Bay, during a celebratory announcement at the venue.

The Fraser Coast Hospice Association expressed its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated, donated, and supported the event.

Their contributions ensure that the hospice can continue to provide compassionate and dignified end-of-life care to those in need.

With the overwhelming success of "Hoist Ya Boss 2025," the community is already looking forward to another exciting edition next year, hoping to reach even greater fundraising milestones and continue this meaningful tradition.
