THE WIDEBAY Rodders brought Hervey Bay alive over the May long weekend when they presented their annual May in the Wide Bay event.
The hugely popular Esplanade Cruise was the highlight of Saturday afternoon, with hundreds of beautiful Hot Rods, Classics, Australian and American Muscle Cars, along with Vintage Motorcycles streaming along the foreshore.
The Sports and Recreation Precinct was the new home for the Show and Shine Day, and it was an incredible success.
“Last year, our May in the Wide Bay event raised over $30,000 for the local community and attracted people from all over the country to Hervey Bay,” said President Allen White.
“We are still working through the outcomes of this year’s event and look forward to announcing our 2023 charity recipients soon.”
“This year, with the move to the Sports and Recreation Precinct, the event has exploded again and affirmed its place as the biggest event of its kind in the country.”
The Fraser Coast Regional Council has pledged support for the event for the next three years, ensuring the vital local tourism driver remains vibrant and growing.
“This event injects between $2.5 and $3 million dollars into our local community. There were well over 3,000 visitors to the event.”
“We cannot thank the vision of the Council and all of our other valued sponsors enough.
Our volunteers were fantastic and worked tirelessly to put together an amazing event.”
“Major events like this offer a window into the hobbies of fellow residents, give enthusiasts an opportunity to showcase their hobby; provide locals an outing and importantly, they attract people to the Fraser Coast.”
“The Wide Bay area has the highest concentration of Hot Rods in Australia, and we had entrants from all over the country make their way to Hervey Bay for this event.”
The WideBay Rodders conduct other events throughout the year, including coffee runs to support local businesses and Hang Out Nights at Stockland.
