Hervey Bay’s over 50 Taekwondo Close Quarter Combative

HERVEY BAY'S only over 50’s Martial Arts Group with Close Quarter Combative, had additional reasons to celebrate grading last month.

The highly respected and internationally recognised Grand Master Kancho Terry Lim 10 Dan Black Belt attended to assist with students grading and completed a Master Seminar held in Hervey Bay.

The local group commenced due to Master Michael Landas 7th Dan Black Belt wanting to provide people over 50 the opportunity to experience the huge benefits of Taekwondo. Master Michael started the club in Hervey Bay 3 years ago and now runs 10 large classes per week.

The students are of varying ages and many have had multiple health issues before they began. Many students will say that Taekwondo engagement has strengthened core muscle and reduced pain, improved memory and concentration along with social comradery of being part of a club.

Kancho Terry Lim is an Australasian Martial Arts Hall of Fame inductee, Martial Arts Australia Martial Artist of the year Master Awards recipient. He has mastered many styles including Karate, Kung Fu, Aikido, Hung Ga, Arnis (Kali sticks) and Loong Fu Pai to name a few.

Master Michael was also awarded a Certificate for International World recognition. This Award issued by the World All Styles Combat Association and Black Dragon International Association  WASCA/BDIA by the President and Directors all 10th Dan in their respective countries around the World recognising him as a 7th Dan Black Belt World Ranking status.

Master Michael says “I must say I am very honoured and I will continue to serve our great country Australia and our excellent Hervey Bay Community in the Martial Arts way (Budo).He thanked the over 50 year olds for “for walking through the door of the Martial Arts dojo”.
