Fraser Coast Mates raise serious money for suicide prevention

AS POSSIBLY one of the world’s worst golfers, I had a blast at the recent Fraser Coast Mates Golf Day at the Hervey Bay Golf Club.

In my line of work, we’re always up to something—sponsoring events, joining in the fun, or lending our marketing magic to support awesome local causes. That’s the kind of community vibe that still rings true in our little part of the world.

This was the eighth Fraser Coast Mates Golf Day, and I am told it was the biggest and most successful yet.

Prime Agents proudly took on the role of major sponsor along with a host of associate sponsors and generous donors.

Fraser Coast Mates is a fantastic local group focused on spreading the word about mental wellness and preventing suicide among men and women in our community.

They’re all about building a network of buddies who look out for each other, knowing that sometimes we all need a little help.

The day was a smashing success, raising over $40,000. That is simply incredible and will fund up to four-hundred counselling sessions.

Before moving to Hervey Bay, I spent fifteen years in another boom city, Ipswich.

As a media operator there, I had a front row seat to that city’s incredible growth and change. Now Hervey Bay is in the frame as one of the top five cities in the country for people on the move.

Hervey Bay is home to some truly amazing local projects like Fraser Coast Mates, Dunga Derby, Red Bike, and the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre, just to name a few.

As we ride the wave of growth, it’s super important to keep our community spirit alive and kicking. Supporting these grassroots events and initiatives is key—they do such valuable work and need our ongoing love and backing.

Every great city knows how to grow while still cherishing the little things that matter most.

Hervey Bay’s got that enviable community spirit, and it’s up to us to keep it strong as we forge ahead.
