WIDE Bay Motor Group has extended its enduring partnership with the Queensland Police Service by generously contributing a new vehicle to the Crime Prevention Unit.
Senior Constable Matt Bedding highlighted the significance of this sponsorship, emphasising its pivotal role in enabling community engagement at local events, groups, and schools.
“The Crime Prevention Unit operates proactively within the community, targeting specific age groups during various times of the year to impart valuable knowledge and empower students.”
Senior Constable Bedding elaborated on the unit’s activities, ranging from discussions on cyber-safety, bullying, and healthy relationships to addressing road safety and personal safety among senior school students.
“The donated vehicle serves a multifaceted purpose, supporting not only the Crime Prevention Unit but also the Volunteers in Policing program.”
“This assistance extends to community engagement initiatives such as letterbox drops and door-knocks, enhancing the reach and impact of these programs.”
In addition to their ongoing efforts, the Crime Prevention Unit oversees the ‘Adopt a Cop’ program and has future plans to conduct home security and business security audits in the coming year.
Jason Weigmink, Dealer Principal at Wide Bay Motor Group, expressed his belief in the critical role played by the Crime Prevention Unit in the community. He recognised the often-overlooked contributions of the police services and considered the vehicle donation a small yet meaningful gesture of appreciation for the outstanding work they perform.
“I cannot underscore enough the importance of supporting initiatives that elevate the standing of the local police force, particularly when they proactively engage with the community.”
“It is a pleasure to be contributing to this cause, and providing a vehicle for the police to carry out their vital work. This is a gratifying aspect of our involvement in the motoring industry.”
“Wide Bay Motor Group’s ongoing support for the Crime Prevention Unit reflects a commitment to community well-being and a recognition of the invaluable service provided by the Queensland Police.”
