Typewriter mayhem in Z-PAC’s ‘You Too Can Have a Body’
1 min read

Z-PAC Theatre’s latest production, ‘You Too Can Have a Body’, promises audiences a night of side-splitting laughter.

This comedy-thriller follows two TV scriptwriters, Lucky Wilson and Chick Wade, who retreat to Leverdale Hall—a supposedly haunted mansion—to work on a murder mystery script.

But when the murders they write start happening in real life, they uncover their typewriter’s clairvoyant powers.

Testing the typewriter’s bizarre abilities, the duo writes increasingly absurd scenarios—whisky stills, forged banknotes, and more murders—all of which inexplicably materialise.

Just as they scheme to write themselves a brighter future, the chaos crescendos when their magical typewriter meets an untimely demise.

Directed by Roger Jennings, a British farce guru, the production combines the absurd hilarity of Dad’s Army, Fawlty Towers, and ‘Allo ‘Allo. Roger describes the play as a “rollicking blend of clever dialogue, fast-paced action, and creative mayhem.”

“The beauty of this play lies in its chaotic brilliance,” says Roger.

“Farce requires precision timing and unrelenting energy, and this cast delivers on every front.

The humour is sharp, the situations are ridiculous, and the result is pure joy.”

Known for his detailed attention to set building, Roger ensures the production’s visuals enhance its humour.

“Leverdale Hall is more than a setting; it’s a character in its own right.

The props and scenery are crafted to immerse audiences in the play’s madcap world,” he explains.

With an uproarious plot full of twists, turns, and laugh-out-loud moments, ‘You Too Can Have a Body’ explores the chaotic consequences of creativity running wild.

“This is theatre at its most fun and unpredictable,” Roger adds.

“Come prepared for a night of belly laughs and surprises—it’s an absolute must-see!”

The show runs over two weekends from 7-16 March, with Friday and Saturday night performances as well as Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2pm.
