Savanah’s big chop for Hospice care

WHAT began as a heartfelt promise in the quiet grief of loss has blossomed into a touching act of generosity.

When Savanah's beloved grandmother, affectionately known as Nannie, spent her final days at Fraser Coast Hospice three years ago, it left a deep impression.

In honour of the compassionate care her family received, Savanah decided to grow her hair—with one goal in mind: to one day give back.

Now, after three years of nurturing every strand, Savanah is ready for "The Big Chop."

Her transformation will take place at the upcoming Mad Hatter's Mis-Matched Tea Party, where friends, family, and community members are invited to witness not just a haircut, but the culmination of a personal journey of healing, remembrance, and purpose.

The hair she has so lovingly grown will be donated to create a wig for someone facing medical hair loss.

Meanwhile, funds raised through the event will support Fraser Coast Hospice, helping them continue to provide the same fee-free, dignified care that brought comfort to Savanah’s family during their time of need.

"Your loved ones never go away as long as they stay in your memories and hearts," Savanah shared.

"The hospice was able to supply our family with a safe and dignified space for our Nannie."

With a goal of raising $2,000, Savanah is inviting the community to contribute—whether by donating online or by attending the tea party Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM at The Clubhouse Hervey Bay.

Every dollar raised helps ensure that Fraser Coast Hospice remains a place of peace and compassion for others navigating the end-of-life journey.

The symbolic haircut will be provided by local hairdresser Carrie, who has volunteered her time and skills for the cause.

This moment of giving marks the end of a three-year journey, but its impact will be felt far beyond the event itself—offering hope, comfort, and support to others in their most vulnerable moments.
