AS ONE of our regions most respected service organisations, Rotary Hervey Bay Sunrise is facing the same challenges as many of our long held and respected groups.
They need more new members to assist with the highly valuable work they do for the community.
“Hervey Bay Sunrise is a vibrant, friendly club made up of community leaders and professionals who meet each week and turn conversations into actions that improve our community here in Hervey Bay, around Australia and the world,” Sunrise spokesperson Danny Mattsson said.
“Many of our members have been involved with Rotary for decades and our great challenge is to introduce the next generation of community minded people to our club. It’s a challenge that is faced by many long-standing groups in our community.”
Sunrise has a focus on ethical conduct and a service-above-self outlook provides impetus to achieve amazing things.
“We value our members professions for their betterment of society, and are active members of the Hervey Bay community in many ways.”
“It’s not unusual for our Rotarians to be members of many boards, committees and other groups around Hervey Bay and the wider Fraser Coast, as they develop networks, improve their personal and professional lives.”
“Their involvement in Rotary brings those networks and their professional skills to the fore.”
Hervey Bay Sunrise assist many community groups financially, as well as supporting youth programs, all on a volunteer basis.
“We have undertaken so many projects over the years including support for Fraser Coast Mates, Rally for a Cause, Miriam’s Cottage and Hope in a Suitcase.”
“Our club assisted Fraser Coasters Wheelchair Basketball with team apparel, we assisted Bayside Transformation with the refurbishment of bedrooms and we are actively involved in Literacy Projects, Tree Planting, The Salvation Army and our Rotary Youth Exchange Student program.”
“Our club members have many opportunities for humanitarian service, both locally and internationally. Service programs address health care, hunger, poverty, illiteracy, and the environment. Rotarians experience the fulfillment that comes from giving back to the community.”
