FOUR local Rotary clubs have joined forces with Road Safety Education Limited (RSE) to offer essential training to year 10 students aspiring to drive.
RSE, a not for profit organisation dedicated to road safety education across Australia and New Zealand, aims to save lives through top-tier educational programs.
Scheduled for the week of August 5th, the program will be held in Maryborough.
The full-day workshop focuses on the Fatal Five (Alcohol & Drugs, Seatbelts, Driver Fatigue, Distraction, and Speeding) along with other critical road safety tips.
This initiative aims to equip students with foundational knowledge, habits, and motivation to ensure safety on the roads, whether as drivers or passengers, throughout their lives.
Students will benefit from impactful demonstrations highlighting the consequences of speeding and distractions while driving.
Facilitators include trained local police officers and experienced educators, ensuring comprehensive and engaging sessions.
Rotary clubs are contributing by providing free bus transport for all participants, as well as morning tea and lunch.
The Maryborough Showgrounds, generously sponsored by the Fraser Coast Regional Council, will host the event for the entire week.
Parents and caregivers are strongly encouraged to register their children for this invaluable one-day course. Registrations are conducted through the students’ respective schools, ensuring accessibility for all.
This collaborative effort underscores the community’s commitment to enhancing young drivers’ safety awareness and responsible behaviour on the road.
By partnering with RSE and local authorities, the Rotary clubs aim to instil a culture of road safety consciousness among youth, ultimately contributing to safer roads and fewer accidents in our communities.
