FRASER Coast Hospice is inviting the community to Stockland Hervey Bay, to hang a decoration on the Tree of Light in remembrance of someone this Christmas.
Located just outside Kmart, the Tree of Light concept was born from Clevedon in England where their tree is placed in the town square giving people the opportunity to place a decoration to remember a loved one, while raising much needed funds for their hospice.
For only $5, community members can purchase an ornament for their tree at home and also hang a decoration with a name & message on the Tree of Light.
Staff and volunteers will be at the Tree of Light right up until Christmas Eve and have heard many heartfelt stories from people stopping by.
Mayor George Seymour, the Town Crier and Councillors attended the official lighting in November.
The Fraser Coast Regional Council and Stockland Hervey Bay are also acknowledged for their support of this inaugural legacy for the Fraser Coast.
All proceeds from the Tree of Light help the Fraser Coast Hospice to provide fee-free inpatient palliative care for terminally ill people in our community.
After just 3 years of operation, the Hospice has cared for more than 560 people and their families.
