Pink Spanners Workshop

A NEW initiative to raise funds for this year’s Dunga Derby event has been a real success in their first attempt last month being completely booked out.

Danni’s Pink Spanners Workshop is aimed at females to learn all the necessary maintenance and repair requirements for cars without seeking help.

The idea has come from Danielle Close, who works for Reel Diesel Services, where she was able to demonstrate and explain practical steps the ladies can use with their vehicles.

The first of the monthly workshop was very popular; they covered a number of topics to provide women drivers with better knowledge of vehicles. Some of these included when preparing to purchase cars, understanding the importance of tyre pressures, how to change a tyre themselves and even demonstrating the vehicle going on the hoist, preparing it for an inspection underneath.

“One lady spoke of not having her vehicle motor running and therefore completely draining her battery,” says Danni who believes the ladies will be surprised at how much they can do to look after their cars.

The workshop ends with a question and answer session leaving the ladies with the confidence they needed to be better equipped in the future.

The workshop is free with a gold coin donation for a BBQ breakfast. All funds go towards Team 43 Breast Intentions and Team 52 Coast Busters in this year’s Dunga Derby.

This event raises funds that go to the Rally for a Cause Charity, which supports families and individuals affected by life-limiting medical conditions or who have had their lives disrupted by circumstances beyond their control.

The next workshop will be Saturday 29th April from 8am-10am covering checking engine oil, brake fluid, windscreen fluid and coolant for radiator maintenance. For more information, visit their website on reeldieselservices.com.au (bookings are essential).
