HERVEY Bay has welcomed one of the largest Vinnies stores in Queensland, with the opening of a massive new op shop on Boat Harbour Drive.

Located in the former BCF site, the 1,500m² space has become a shopping haven for bargain hunters and op-shop enthusiasts.

The new store has replaced the previous Vinnies shop in Hervey Bay, which was already one of the top three performing Vinnies locations in the state. 

With its prime location, spacious layout, and dedicated team of volunteers, the new shop is expected to become the most popular Vinnies store in Queensland, attracting both locals and visitors from the wider region.

The store offers a treasure trove of pre-loved clothing, homewares, and unique finds, with all proceeds going towards supporting those in need in the local community. 

With the rising popularity of sustainable and affordable shopping, Vinnies Queensland is excited to meet the growing demand for eco-friendly shopping options.

Linda de Blasio, Vinnies Queensland’s Northern Retail Operations Manager, said the new store represents a significant milestone for the charity and its ongoing work in the region. 

She noted the increasing demand for sustainable shopping alternatives, especially during challenging economic times.

In the 2023-2024 financial year alone, Vinnies Queensland sold 9.3 million pre-loved items, keeping quality goods out of landfill while generating vital funds for local community support services. 

Over the last 12 months, the Fraser Coast region, including Hervey Bay, benefitted from over $210,000 in emergency assistance, providing vital aid to approximately 5,000 residents.

“At a time when many Queenslanders are feeling the strain of the cost-of-living crisis, every purchase made at Vinnies helps us deliver essential services like food, housing assistance, and support programs to those who need it most,” Linda said.
