Fishing Club Christmas raffle helps the community
1 min read

FOR MORE than twenty years, the Beach House Fishing Club has been raising valuable funds for many worthy charities, sporting, not-for-profit and community groups in our local area.

Well in excess of $100,000 has been raised over the past two decades.

This year is no exception for the committed members, who band together to ensure they assist in championing many local initiatives.

“We recently did the Christmas Break Up Party for the Special School in Hervey Bay and Maryborough. This year we teamed up with Domino’s Pizza, Mr. Whippy and Fantasea Faces and threw on a great afternoon for the kids’ Beach House Fishing Club,” spokesperson Paul Robbins said.

“Our suppliers really look after us and it is great to see the funds we raise, going into fun initiatives like this.”

“Most of the people involved in the Fishing Club are local business owners who take a lot of pride in giving back to the region. We are always welcoming of new members who might like to get involved.”

The Fishing Club has also raised funds for catering equipment that serves the broader community.

“We had a custom-made BBQ trailer and cool room built and we use that for the Dunga Derby and the Men’s Walk amongst other things. We also just bought a food van with the help of Fraser Coast Mates and some other generous donors, which we lend out to other community groups and charity organisations”.

Funds are predominately raised from the Wednesday Raffles at the Beach House. Around 90% of the prizes are donated by local businesses, allowing the vast majority of the money raised to
go straight back into the community.

"Our Christmas Raffle is coming up and that is our big one. We have about fifty prizes for that one, up to $5,000 in total value.”

The Beach House Fishing Club – Christmas Raffle is a ‘need to be there event’, with tickets only available on the day.

The event is on Wednesday 20 December at the Beach House, with ticket selling beginning at 3:00pm. Prizes are drawn from 5:00pm.
