Bayside Christian College Castaway Café opening
1 min read

Bayside Christian College has announced the Opening of the Castaway Café – a stunning space in the very centre of the College campus. The café is part of the College’s multi-million-dollar Masterplan with modern facilities, new teaching laboratories and a range of new programs.

The Castaway Café is a nautical themed eatery with an authentic ship’s helm and brass bell, marine inspired artwork, picnic rugs and shaded seating, all surrounded by beautiful gardens. Students can order their lunch via a state-of-the-art app and have it delivered to their classroom or collect from the café.

There is a dedicated barista counter so that parents, staff, and their Year 11 and 12 Senior Students can get a delicious coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. The College will hold special days throughout the year in which students can order a picnic basket to share with their friends or an authentic pizza for one.

With a leading Head Chef at the helm, with years of experience in hospitality, the Castaway Café will not only prepare the most amazing lunches but also train students in hospitality. Students have had the opportunity to apply for roles within the College and will learn valuable skills in food handling, cooking, barista training and business skills, as they eventually take over the ordering and logistics of this eatery.

The new café is just one of many exciting new projects at the College including a specialised Rugby League program called the Bayside Barracudas. The College has invited students who will be in Year 6, 7 or 8 in 2024 to try out for this program. Successful applicants will be given a scholarship to attend the College. With a unique partnership with the Hervey Bay Seagulls Rugby League Club and the mighty NRL Dolphins, the program is looking to develop the next generation of Rugby League stars.
