OUR region has a strong record of not-for-profit organisations arising out of urgent needs for our local community in need of care. We’ve Got You Foundation is another positive story of local residents creating a service that helps those who have very little choices.

Their concept helps people who have a special situation and need for urgent Medical-related Health Care including palliative and crisis care and Medical Transport, who have Care Package or Transport Funding Approved, but could be waiting up to 12 months for their payments to start. 

They can also help people who have medical needs, but are unable to drive, or pay the full cost for trips to their appointments or need health care in their home.

Founders of We’ve Got You, local business people Susan Dodd and Michelle Lockwood, came together with their own experiences with family and friends and became frustrated with the services that are under resourced.

“I had a particular tough time getting help for my mother and I felt there had to be something I could do for other families experiencing similar issues” says Susan.

Their foundation recognised a gap in health funding for in home care and medical transport on the Fraser Coast Region.

“100% confirmed they were experiencing challenges in accessing healthcare services in our region. Also 76% surveyed have or know someone that has experienced chronic pain, mental health, cardiac issues, cancer, palliative care in the last 12 months” says Michelle.

The Foundation’s fundraising efforts have covered all set up costs and have opened applications for funding online with one application they are processing at present.

Their ultimate goal is to raise funds to have their own vehicle with wheelchair accessibility and to assist more people within the financial gap in home care and transportation to local appointments.
